In this article, I will introduce you to the scholarships provided directly by the universities in Japan, with the support of up to 100% tuition exemption, which means you can study and pay almost nothing for tuition. Excited? Let’s get started!

The University of Tokyo Scholarship

According to the official website, students who apply to the University of Tokyo will be automatically considered for the scholarship. A separate application is not required, which makes it very convenient to high school seniors, who are already busy with tons of college applications to complete. This four-year merit-based scholarship covers the admission fee, tuition, and living expenses of JPY 126,000 a month. Only up to ten students will be offered this scholarship based on their exceptional qualities.

As the University of Tokyo also offers an English-based undergraduate program (PEAK), you can take a chance and apply even if you have never studied Japanese before. Not sure if you should apply to UTokyo? Take a look at the application process and your chances of getting in here.
