Education, a nuisance for some while a lifelong dream for others, is an instrument that can somehow be used in the future. As the need for knowledge is constantly growing, and educational institutions compete to be the best choice for different fields of studies, students are plagued with choices but are restricted by one factor, money.
Japan, a country that has different universities where you can further enhance your knowledge on your field of study, equally provides for students who are struggling to fund their studies. Students who are intrigued by what Japanese universities offer can apply for the following Scholarships while they are outside of Japan.

Joint Japan World Bank Scholarships
The Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJWBGSP) focuses on providing financial aid to students from developing countries to be able to pursue their master’s degree. JJWBGSP offers scholarships to students who wish to study fields related to key areas of development, including economic policy management, tax policy, and infrastructure management.
The JJWBGSP scholarship provides for the tuition and admission fees for the student while providing them with a monthly stipend, round-trip tickets to their home country, health insurance, and travel allowance. The scholarship covers the whole duration of the master’s degree program or two years, whichever is less.

JDS scholarship receivers are expected to contribute to the socio-economic development of their country, implementing what they learned from their master’s degree.

ABD Japan Scholarship Program
The Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB – JSP) aims to provide an opportunity for individuals from the Asian Development Bank’s list of Developing member countries (DMCs) to pursue a master’s degree. The scholarship is offered to students who are in the field of economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields in Asia and the Pacific Region.
ADB – JSP provides for the tuition fees, a monthly stipend, housing, books, and instructional materials, medical insurance, and travel expenses. For students who may do research, a special grant may be given for their dissertation. The scholarship may also provide for the student’s preparatory language, computer literacy, and other courses during special circumstances.
The Japanese government also provides other scholarships, such as the Japanese Government MEXT Postgraduate Scholarship, while the Japan Student Services Organization or JASSO, an independent administrative institution, provides other scholarships for students currently taking a master’s degree program in Japan.
These scholarships focus on bachelor degree holders from developing countries, with each scholarship having different requirements to the country which the individual is applying. The JJWBGSP and JDS Scholarships both require the student with experience to the field they are applying for their Master’s Degree program.
