About Kyoritsu International Foundation

The Kyoritsu International Foundation was established on November 7, 1995 by Mr. Haruhisa Ishizuka, who donated his personal assets. The main purpose of the foundation is to foster talented international students from Asian countries, helping them become capable  human resources. Also, Kyoritsu aims to contribute to the diplomatic relationship between Japan and other Asian countries. With this purpose, the foundation has a scholarship project, life and learning information provision project, homestay project, international student dormitory project and operates an educational institution as well.

Scholarship

There are 2  scholarship opportunities connected to Kyoritsu.

  1. Kyoritsu International Foundation Scholarship gives  an amount of 100,000JPY a month for duration of two years. The payment starts from April, when a new fiscal year begins.
  2. Kyoritsu Maintenance Scholarship Fund gives an amount of 60,000JPY a month for duration of one year. The payment starts from April, when a new fiscal year begins.

Who is eligible?

The applicant has to be a student at either Special training school(1st year), College( 1st  year), Undergraduate(1st, 2nd, and 3rd years), Master’s program(1st year) or Doctoral program(1st and 2nd years).

Kyoritsu Maintenance Scholarship Fund

The applicant has to be a student at either Special training school(1st year), College( 1st  year), Undergraduate(1st, 2nd, and 3rd years) or Japanese Language School.

For both scholarships, students enrolled at 163 institutions across the nation are eligible. Please check the list of schools from here.

Students from 21 Asian countries and 3 territories can apply, including Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, East Timor, Brunei Darussalam, Maldives, Republic of Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, Mongolia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar.

Qualifications

The applicant shall be a privately financed student with good standing in regard to both character and academics. Also the Foundation requires the recipient to be able to attend monthly meetings and submit reports asked by the Foundation, be able to attend the scholarship award ceremony scheduled and obtain the residence card and live in Japan as of April 1, 2019.

Statistics

15 applicants are chosen every year for the monthly 100,000JPY scholarship and 35 applicants are chosen every year for the monthly 60,000JPY scholarship.

How to Apply

For both scholarships, students should apply through their respective schools. No individual application is accepted. The application period is usually from the beginning of November to the end of January (postmark valid). The results are announced around Mid-March by Mail to School Officials and posted on the homepage of the Foundation as well.

If you are  planning to study at a Japanese language school in Japan, now living in Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Indonesia or Malaysia, you can directly apply from your home country as well. Please contact the branch office for more information.
